The Edge of Love hits the big screen
The Edge of Love, a Wales Creative IP Fund backed
film about the life of the Dylan Thomas, was filmed in Wales and
injected more than £1million into the Welsh economy.
The production, starring Keira Knightly, Sienna Miller and
Matthew Rhys, tells the story of Caitlin Thomas and Vera Killick
and their relationship with the famous poet.
The project secured £700,000 investment from the IP fund, which
is managed by Finance Wales on behalf of the Assembly Government.
In return for the investment, the IP Fund has taken a share of the
intellectual property generated by the project and will be looking
to recoup the full amount of the original investment and to share
in future revenues.
The investment was conditional on the production spending more
than £1million in Wales.
“This film, shot in west Wales last year, generated more than £1
million of direct economic benefits to the region,” said Bethan
Cousins, IP Fund manager.
“The investment is the largest by the Wales Creative IP Fund to
date and builds upon Wales’ growing reputation for the creative
industries and our ability to attract and produce high quality
productions of this nature."
